The True Review

An excellent study of the unknown Civil War

Photo studies of the native peoples of the southwest, c1895Each photo has a detailed explanation of what is shown, including (often) the story behind it. This is probably the best collection of such photos between covers available on the people of this area, and most were taken between 1895 and 1904.

"must have" chili recipes.......

I find this a Must Have for those visiting LouisianaMy only two complaints- One is that I didn't see anything about Steamboat Style Architecture which I thought was unique to Louisiana. (Maybe I'm wrong- I'm not an expert.) Two- It was expected that the reader would understand many of the vocabulary words used in talking about architecture. Although many of these words were easy to decode by looking at the pictures and reading the paragraph, I would have been happier if there was a glossary explaining these new words. In other words, it was expected that the reader would understand more than a general lay person about architecture.
However, those two points aside, I take this book with me as we drive through Louisiana. I find it a challenge to classify the types of architecture we see on our trips.
